ok i was too sick of reading and studying..

so i calculated how much i spent of FOOD alone for the past month..

yes i've been here for a month already, without me realising it..

somehow it doesn't seem to be a month at all..

it seems like everything had just started..

unlike NS, we're really celebrating after a month..

but here, i've got SOOOO much to look forward to still..

ok so back to the point..

i'd actully spend <$150 for food for the past month.. *HooRay*

but the Singtel (phone) and Ezlink (transport) is freaking expensive..

I've reloaded a total of 4 times this month alone for Singtel so all in all i spent like $51 on it..

Ezlink is even worst.. i cant recall me going out that often ler???? cant believe i've spent $65 on it already!!!!! but there's still about $16 in the card la.. so about $50 spent on travelling!!! woohoo.. but that was before the sem starts, think i wont have much time to go out liaw la.. sobzzz...

just like today, i spent $0!!!!! woke up late and took maggi for breakfast or lunch or brunch or watever you call it.. then we got free food from our residence for cleaning up the cluster.. woohoo..

so tomorrow i can go eat subway liaw!!!! yeah!!!!!!!!!!!! yummy..

aiduh.. better get back study liaw.. chaiosss..

week #2

Yes, i spent $1 on that today, taking my total money spent on food today to $5.50, which is considered quite high, as most of the time i spent like less than $4.00 on food a day.

well, i just wanna reward myself for being able to jog 3/4 of the campus without stopping..

well, by my next jog, i might be able to do the whole campus without stopping liaw.. yeah..

so it has been an busy week, but at the same time a fun one..

hasn't been studying much though, cause was busy online-ing and talking.. haha..

just got to know that my tuesday timetable a bit wrong.. its no longer 8 to 6, but 8 to 10, then 1 to 6..

so i've got the miserable 3 hours break in between and what i did was went back to my room to sleep.. haha..

maybe next time i'll use that time to go to the run a bit or something..

i've been wanting the NUS lanyard since semester start.. at least its something to prove me as a NUS student.. but its just not worth buying, as i would rather go for a NUS jacket..

but somehow, i'm given one lanyard for free!! hooray.. thanks to the responsibility as a class rep.. and hey the quality of the lanyard is very good ok.. very contented with it..

and we had to wear this tag during one talk on monday.. the permanent secretariat of MOH Singapore actually came over to NUS to give a talk about i-dunno-wat la.. and there's Channel News Asia people going to film it.. Woohoo..

though its only into the second week, but just look at my lecture notes and reading materials!!! GOSH!!!!!

i spent more than $5 printing lecture notes for anatomy and physiology module.. nus charge $0.05 per page if you print stuffs.. so you can imagine how many pages of lecture notes i need to go through!!

and this afternoon. spent almost 2 hours zapping (photostating) my healthcare ethics and law module reading materials for 3 weeks..

all in all, they cost about $3 for the reading materials.. and by the way nus charge $0.03 for per page photocopied..

grrr.. so i think i'll have to spend the whole day reading things i doubt if i'll ever understand..

and yeah, today we had our first anatomy lab, and we had the chance to play with cadavers!! its super fun.. yeah, the pic upstairs is not NUS la, cause NUS anatomy lab wont allow people to snap pics.. somehow they are quite strict over this for some reason.. it really is fun playing with the old apek.. =)

yup its friday tomorrow, which is suppose to be my free day, but thanks to the stupid idiotic english module, gotta to ES1301 at 4pm.. kinda hate the canadian teacher though.. so boring..

but i've got my night booked to go IMM to take my specs.. woohoo....... and might get a new line there as well.. we've been dragging and dragging for a LONG time already, think its time to really get a registered line liaw la.. and of course a new phone..

yeah, that is the one i'm eyeing.. Nokia 5700.. its dead cheap if i were to get this phone along with the 2 year plan..

oh before i end this post, once again i wanna complain about the stupid washing machine again!! it eat my money!!!!!!!!!!! darn.. i put in the money and push "POWER".. and it show some weird character that i dunno how to read and just wont get going.. so i wasted like $0.40.. so no more money to use a dryer anymore.. =( now all my clothes are hanging around my tiny puny room.. hai..

I HATE DOING LAUNDRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just like Gwen, I too hate doing laundry!!!!

I used the laundry service 4 times in total including today.. And each time, I encountered different problems..

People say you learn from your mistakes, and I did, but every time I use it again, different problems will come up!!!! I'm so sick of the stupid washing machine... Urgh..

First time:

Pre-washing:
i was too anxious to use a washing machine on my own for the first time, so while i was opening my packet of washing powder, i think i used too much strength and it spilled all over the floor!!!! you can imagine how much time i need to "sweep" it back and put the whole packet into BOTTLES!!!! so now i've got like washing powder in mineral water bottle?!!!!

Wahsing:
Nothing much came up during washing. just that somehow some of my shirt got some stain from unknown place?!~

Drying:
I used the dryer too. and its pretty ok. most of my clothes are dry. very satiesfied.


Second time:

Pre-washing:
Carried my bag of laundry all the way down to the laundry room, which is quite far away, only to know that I've forgotten to bring coins!!!!! so had to walk back to my room to take the stupid 40 cents and walk all the way down to the laundry room again.. urgh....

Washing:
I didn't know that i need press and hold the "START" button, so i just pressed it. and somehow instead of washing, it's spinning!! and that time i did not know what on earth is spinning. i just stared at the machine and wait for the 7 minutes. i thought to myself as i'm unable to believe what i saw: how can a washing machine that old wash my clothes in 7 minutes, WoW!!
so i sakai-ly waited there for 7 minutes and when i reopen the cover, i found out that all my washing powder and softener is still in place, and there's not even a bit of water on my shirt and somehow my clothes are pushed to the side. then i baru know what on earth is spinning for. luckily i don't need to pay extra to let the machine to start from the beginning to start washing.

Drying:
Somehow i managed to get a dryer. put in 40 cents too. but after 1 hour, most of my clothes are still not dry. dunno whats the dryer for?!!!!!!! so i had to hang it all over my tiny room. hai..... waste money and time.

Third time:

Pre washing:
Again, i did not bring down my coins!!! sien-nya!!!!!!!! and you can only use 20 cents coin for the washing machine. so sickeningly i went up to my room to take it again.

Washing:
This time, nothing much happened during the washing period. Phew!!!

Drying:
Just as I finished moving out all my clothes from the washing machine, I saw someone removing his clothes from one of the dryer. i was so happy to see that as i thought i need to stand there for i dunno how long to wait for a dryer to be available. (FYI, there's more than 20 washing machines and only 8 dryers)
so happily, i dumped all my clothes in the Dryer 1, closed the door and went over to put money into the machine. somehow, the machine just refused to "receive" my money. the money keep on coming out and the dryer just won't get going.
after numerous tries, i was already sweating like what and hey, i just showered. laundry room is the one of the most stuffy and hottest place in PGP!!! gosh!!!!
eventually, i gave up on the dryer. as there was no more dryer available, i dragged my not-very-dry laundry back to my room and started to hang them all around again. grrrrrrrrr......... got money also dun wan one bor the stupid dryer..


Fourth time

Pre-washing:
This time, i planned carefully and so i did bring my coins! yeah.. but as its was raining this morning and the floor was still wet, i actually slipped while going down some stairs when i was going to the laundry room. shoot!!

Washing:
did the usual routine and get the machine started. 32 minutes and i should be able to collect my laundry, according to the machine.
went back room to online for a while and went back to the laundry room half an hour later, only to see a weird "E3" is displayed at the screen. didn't know what on earth is that again, i opened the cover and see that though my washing powder was used, my softener was still there. so i press the "START" button, and the machine gets going! yeah!! but then it wasted my time!!!!!! 20 minutes more.....
so again, went back to my room to online and went back 20 minutes later. opened the cover and saw there's still some water at the base. meaning to say all my clothes are still very wet. i guess the washing machine forgot to spin my clothes. however, i can't start the machine anymore. sien-ly, i transfer my clothes to the neighbouring washing machine, put in another 40 cents coin and let it to start to spin. luckily i made the stupid mistakes during my second time so i know how to adjust the setting to only spin and not wash anymore. =) 7 minutes....
so i decided to wait there as the journey to and fro my room would take more than 4 minutes. just as i thought everything would be working fine, the machine started to come up with all sorts of noise. its SOOO loud that everyone in the laundry room were staring at me and my washing machine. i was kinda embarrased. i let the machine to run some more and after about 20 seconds of loud noise, it stopped. phew!!!! and just as i stepped out of the room just to get some fresh air, the noise stared all over again, and this time even louder!!!!!! i quickly rushed into the room and off the power. and there's it for my 40 cents!!! miserably..
but luckily the spinning for the mere 3 minutes was quite useful too. at least the clothes are quite dry.

drying:
i don't even bother to use a dryer anymore after the loud noise incident. i quickly "siam" from the room and rushed back to my room.
and yeah, i spent bout 30 minutes just to hang all my clothes all around my room.. hai.................


that's why i say i hate doing laundry. i hate it!!!!!

and don't even ask me to hand wash. that's even more mahuan....

on a more happy note, i bought 2 shirts at Queensway last night.

cost me $16 for both.


P/s: Something to ponder on: You can't expect people to teach you everything, many times we just need to go and touch it and learn from your mistakes!! I'm still learning!~

Week 1 DOWN!!

Yeah.. First week of school is done for me.. Very happy..

Indeed university life is really something new to me lor, having to study with 200 plus people, and the lecturers are like flying.. Gosh.. So there's a lot of catch to do..

Somehow my friend likes to go to the library to mug a lot.. So I went there few times too this week.. But I'm not that productive la.. No momentum to study at all.. And NUS library got all sorts of fun stuffs to play with.. Hehe.. Especially the unlimited usage of computers.. WooHoo..........

No lectures tomorrow.. So may go to library again as my friend is going.. Staying back in my room also nothing much to do.. See if I have the mood to study la..

Oh and planning to go somewhere nearby to get some sports attire.. Hehe.. Had been moving quite a bit lately..

Woohoo to the coming weekends.. Not really anticipating the new week to come though..

And gosh! There's so many more things to buy!!!!!!

Just as i thought that most, if not all the things needed, had been bought, the horrors continued..

Books, yes BOOKSSSSSSSSS... LOTSSSS of them!!!!

Each subject need at least a text book..

And each text book cost $60 and above..

And we may just use it for a semester..

There's only one batch of senior and they fear they may need the books for future reference so not many of them want to sell their text books.. Hai..

Yalah, library got also, but then most of the books are in the Recommended Books for Reading (RBR) area so you can only borrow for 2 hours max each time.. How?????

And also we need to print out TONSS of lecture notes.. Not sure about tutorials yet though.. Each piece printed from the library cost $0.05.. ARRRRRRRR........

I have yet to print out a single paper..

Cause me and Daw Cherng may share to buy a printer soon.. It really is a necessity here in NUS..

So let me now tell you how hectic my time table is first..


Monday:
Lectures and tutorials from 8am to 5pm, with an hour of lunch break from 12pm to 1pm..

Tuesday:
Lectures and tutorials from 8am to 6pm, with an hour of lunch break from 12pm to 1pm, and another hour break from 3pm to 4pm (odd weeks only)!!!!

Wednesday:
Lectures and tutorials and lab from 11am to 5pm with an hour of lunch break from 12pm to 1pm..

Thursday:
Lectures and tutorials from 8am to 12pm..

Friday:
English tutorials from 4pm to 6pm..

GOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually I thought I can have my Friday free, but who knows the stupid English Module, ES1301 is being put into the 4pm to 6pm slot.. HAI!!!!!!!!!!

So all in all, I'll be studying 7 modules (subject)!!!! That's the maximum a student can take in NUS per semester..

Yup, that's my timetable.. Never underestimate Nursing ok!!!!! We still got LOTS of clinical posting to do which other people of other course don't need to ok!!!!!! Hai..

Somehow, some good seniors actually lend me their books..

Hopefully by this I don't need to buy any more.. It cost ALOT ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Though these books had been with me for over a week, but I have yet to flip even a page of both.. Super lazy!!!!!!!

And these books are thick ok!!!!!!

See, can't even cover half of the books..

How am I gonna survive next time with all these inhuman books???!!!!!!!!

How I wish we'll only be doing clinical all the time.. Hehe..

Till then, gonna clear up something then go read some stuffs to prepare myself for lectures tomorrow la.. =)

Sometimes food here seems super expensive..

Like food in PGP canteen..

Cheapest is $1.80 which is like RM4.10..

So many times, I'll just buy the cheapest food available..

But if you go to some faculties canteen, food there is somehow cheaper..

Cheapest I can find is $1.50 which is equivalent to RM3.40.. =)

And I proudly say that I only eat one meal yesterday and only spend RM3.40!!!!!!!!!!

Somehow because of the relatively larger portion of meal here, I managed to keep my tummy fine for eating only one meal..

But I don't think I can make it again today..

Cause I'm going downtown to watch some RAG thing at Padang..

So I do need energy to travel around so no more 1 meal.. Sobzz..

So sometimes, its really good to have a small tummy.. Haha..

Events this week

This week there's a lot of happenings over here in NUS as well as Singapore..

First of all, today (7 Aug) is NUS Flag day..
This is basically a day where NUS students will go to all parts of the island (Singapore island) to ask for donation from the public..
This is an annual event and we as freshmen are encouraged to join..
But as a lazy guy, i skipped it and stayed on campus for the whole day.. Hehe..

Then tomorrow, the Malaysian Student League organised a Steamboat dinner at Marina Bay.. So I'll be following them there for a (hopefully) nice nice dinner which cost me $10.. Oh well..

On Thrusday, it'll be a remarkable day for all Singaporean.. Its their National Day.. Since I'm not a Singaporean, so I'm not that excited about that day.. Haha.. Some alumni had planned something for us international freshmen that day.. I'll be off to a park in the morning before proceeding to an alumni's house for dinner.. Heard its steamboat dinner once again.. Hmmm.. And we can watch their National Day Parade together.. =)

No plans yet on Friday..

Saturday would be NUS Rag Day.. Again, its an annual event and usually rag and flag comes together.. Rag day is different from Flag day.. Basically what they do during Rag Day is they'll showcase the float built by NUS students to the rest of the students.. Each of the 6 halls and all faculties have their own float.. So its gonna be some grand thing to watch..
Plus this year, for the first time, the venue for Rag Day is no longer on campus only.. This year they actually moved the event out to Padang and all public who is interested can go there to witness how great is the floats done by NUS students.. It really is a huge event for NUS..
However, I'm yet to decide whether I wanna go out to watch.. Kinda lazy.. Maybe wanna be anti-social yet again.. Hehe..

Sunday is a day for church.. So I don't think I'll have any other plans after coming back from church.. Normally I'll leave at 12.30pm to church and will only reach PGP at 5.15pm.. Such long journey.. Hai.....

Got all sorts of cards as well..
The white one is EzLink card.. Its basically the same as Touch n Go in Malaysia just that you can also use EzLink on public buses.. So no cash is needed when you use public transport..
Second one is my POSB ATM card.. It can also be used as a debit card in many places.. Very convenient.. I paid for my laptop using that card.. Not much cash is included in purchasing stuffs here.. You can pay your taxi bill using this card too.. So I say you can travel even if you're out of cash in Singapore!!!!
Lastly is a Cashcard.. Its basically some cards that you can use to buy things in certain vending machine, use it as a phone card to make calls, it can also be used in NTUC, Cheers and 7-Eleven, and on top of that is NUS only accept cash card when you wanna print things using the Computer Lab..


Of course lastly its this super expensive thing..

Straight to the point, I'm living in Prince George's Park Residence which is one of the on-campus residence in National University of Singapore..

The good thing about this room is that there's not much sun shinning directly into my room.. So its not that hot la.. The only ray of sun that I can see shinning into my room is the afternoon sun at bout 3-4pm..

Overall its still a pleasant place to stay la.. Very very got privacy lor.. =)
